Richard was one of the founders of Castletown Insurance Services Limited in 1998.

Richard graduated with a BA (Hons) degree in Law & Psychology from Oxford Brookes University. He also holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Financial Services from UMIST (University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology) and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB).

After graduating with his first degree, he joined KPMG in their specialist insurance department. In 1990 he moved to AIG (Europe) Limited, first as a Political Risk Underwriter, then as Senior Underwriter for Trade Credit. In 1995 Richard joined Isle of Man Insurance Management Limited becoming a Director in 1997 being responsible managing the General Insurance business for the Group. Richard’s wide range of experience means that he is ideally suited in structuring insurance solutions to meet the varying needs of clients.

Since the Castletown Group was formed, Richard has worked as a hands-on insurance manager/ Client Director, as well as undertaking a key role in developing the group’s new client base. He was Chairman of the Manx Insurance Managers Association for a number of years, working with others in the sector to meet the challenges of the industry. Critical to this has been keeping abreast of the changes in the commercial and Regulatory environment that Castletown and its clients operate in and implementing effective management controls to ensure a high level of compliance and corporate governance.
